It's easy

Ever wanted to make your baby food? It is easy and you can make bulk and store it for later use. Here is how.

For your vegetables you can use either fresh or frozen. Organic fruits and vegetables are best.

  1. First steam, boil, or bake your fruits or veggies. I recommend steaming because it preserves more of the vitamins and minerals.
  2. Puree the food in a blender or food processor. Add formula or breast milk, for younger baby's make sure the food is a little runny and as your baby gets older you can make it more solid.
  3. Strain any fruit that contains seeds.
  4. Put puree into ice cube trays and cover until frozen.
  5. Transfer to Ziploc bags and store until ready to use.
  6. Just stick food in microwave and heat. Make sure you stir the food to avoid hot spots.

I suggest you introduce one food at a time for a couple of days in case the baby has an allergic reaction. That way you will know exactly what food caused the reaction. I also found it was best to introduce veggies first because fruits are sweeter and more desirable. You may begin to introduce baby food between 4-6 months depending on what your pediatrician advises.
